有時我想講一個由兩個字組成的名詞，即noun(沒adjective可取替) + noun 那麼直接用noun + noun 得唔得呢？ 還是有一定規則呢？ or 一定要用 of / 's呢？ Thank you 更新: But What is the different between belonging and ownership? Thank you

你好，没错，是有的，其实我们有时也会用到的，只是我们没留意到而已，就让我举些例子给你看咯。 第一个就是 a tennis ball 啦，相信你也曾经用过，是吗？ a tennis ball = a ball used to play tennis 我们都知道 tennis 跟 ball 都是名词来的，但 tennis 在这里就好像个形容词 (adjective)，它在告诉我们那粒是怎样的 ball 来的。 我多给几个例子你好了。。。 1) language problems 2) table tennis (= a game) 3) a concert ticket 4) a race horse 5) a credit card 我们有时不只能用两个名词而已，还能一起用好几个名词的。 1) a table tennis table (= a table) 2) car factory workers 3) a road improvement scheme 如果你遇到一些字的后面是有 -ing 的，那个名词通常都会是用来做某些东西的，譬如。。。 1) a washing machine 2) a swimming pool 又有些两个名词一起用时，它会被写成一个字的。 1) toothpaste 2) a weekend 3) a headache 可是，如果你不确定哪些两个名词一起用时会被写成一个字的时候，我们最好是把它们分开写或写成两个字咯。 可是啊，有些是完全不一样的意思。 a sugar bowl (一个有可能是空的或没有糖的碗) 跟 a bowl of sugar (一个里面装着糖的碗) 刚才我已说过两个名词一起用时，第一个名词就好像形容词来用的。他通常会被写成单数的 (singular)，可是他的意思往往是复数 (plural) 来的。 1) a bookshop (= a shop where you can buy books) 2) an apple tree 3) a two-hour journey (= a journey that takes two hours) 有时我们一定要用 -'s 的，就好像 Jack's computer is not working. 我们不可写 the computer of Jack。 有时我们一定要用 of 的，就好像 What was the name of the man who phoned Susan? 因为 the man who phoned Susan 太长了。 单数的名词我们用 -'s，反而复数的名词我们就用 -s'。 单数的:- 1) my sister's room 复数的:- 1) my sisters' room 还有些用来表达时间的，譬如 yesterday's newspaper，Monday's class，three weeks' holiday 等等的。 我们通常会用 of 给那些东西，构想等等，例如 the door of the garage (not the garage's door)，不过我们可以写 the garage door。 希望能帮到你咯。。。: )
